Ended up with a Ford Edge for a rental car rather than huge SUV or another crossover. The cargo space is smaller than we'd like, but this is the biggest we could get for our needs. Drives nice, decent fuel economy. There is enough room in the cargo space if you pack efficiently. Ever see a war movie where the the troop is going on a mission and the grizzled veteran looks at what the new guy has in his pack? He starts pulling out all the extra stuff he won't need... That's what I needed to do for Beau and Debbie.
